Feeling good, feeling great 2008...
This was my status on Facebook back then for many reasons. The popularity of the 1LoveTO shirt was growing quickly & becoming an important piece of Toronto culture and attitude. It became a collectors item for some, a shirt for the vacation crew, a memento for visitors and a great way to match with your new kicks.
However buying a t-shirt required you getting a hold of me on my cell and since that proved difficult at times you could always message Brock and he could grab you a shirt out of my office at The Remix Project. The cool thing about working at The Remix Project, leading the Art of Business program was that the participants in my program got to see how an idea goes from your desk to your shelf.
In 2008, as the demand increased, we had to offer more of a selection in colours and sizes and before you knew it Brock and I could no longer rely on the trunk space of our cars. Drex Jancar co-founder of The Remix Project and now CFO of OVO Sound helped me convert my office into a stock room for the t-shirts. We used 3 IKEA bookshelves, stacked on top of each other.
Although our business has grown to great online success, Brock and I still miss the days that we met every single person that bought the shirts and heard first hand how they found out about the shirts and how they planned on rocking it. Never forget the foundation and a city that was excited to finally love themselves.
One Love!
