my favourite song amongst my favourite songs, lol, is P.Y.T. & my ringtone. I believe for every emotion/feeling there is a favourite song there.

His dance & music I grew up with from wearing the red leather jacket as a kid, trying to do the moonwalk & consistently playing his tracks every night as a dj. He helped influence not only music but people around the world to becoming a better person and sharing love.

I just did a 2hr17min Tribute to the Greatest Entertainer Ever! May his soul finally Rest In Peace.

  3. Ms. MusiQ says:

    MJ’s impact on me:

I feel in love with music at the age of 4 & originally, I thought it was about the voice. Mariah Carey was my first taste at what music sounded like and I thought that was all music needed to be. That was until I was introduced to Michael Jackson. The music he brought forth didn’t stop at what came out of his mouth…. Along with that mellow and distinct voice, he made music with his body! His walk was a beat on it’s own. Then he’d throw in a snap, a flick of his shirt, gliding his feet to the side… he even made knuckle cracking sound melodic, lol. I thought it was so dope that he made the decision to be an innovator by throwing in and elevating the element of dance on stage and in videos and he truely set himself apart from any other artist.

‘Rock With You’ is my all time favorite MJ song but this man had hits for days!! No word of a lie, I’ve always said that one day, I would like to do my part in helping out people in third world countries, and that idea stemmed from a grade-school assembly where we had to learn and sing ‘Heal the World’. He was the first person to open my eyes to what’s going on beyond the country I live in. This man is truely an inspiration and his contribution, his legacy and his music will be remembered for YEARS to come.

    MJ ALL DAY!!!!

  4. Nadia Alam says:

first time i thought i did his infamous hand-on-crotch move, thinking i could do what he did. but i was no match, duh. :)

  5. PStheArtist says:

I’ve always been a real scaredy cat, no lie, but my favorite memory was the night i stayed up with my 2 little cousins at my grandma’s house to watch Michael Jackson’s “Ghost” movie/music video. That video had a very strong impact. Besides the fact that it gave me the courage to watch Thriller [[yeah it took me a while to be able to watch it, even though it was creatively genius]] and it made me the artist I am today. The focus he put on the costumes, the face make-up, and making sure the details were so vivid. I put that kind of dedication into my artwork. He inspired me to portray others as if I was in their shoes.

This painting captures the heart and soul of MJ. Not only the intensity in his music but the complexity of a man that we will miss dearly.

I have 2 favourite songs. 1 from the Jackson 5 days – Dancing Machine and the other is Beat It.

Dancing Machine was a song that my mother, my 2 sisters and I used to dance to in my dining room when we were young. We all had a routine of cleaning the house early on Saturday mornings, and whenever we began to look tired and started moving slow, my mom would pull out the MJ record, (it was in a purple sleeve and it had his face looking out of a rainy window- I’ll never forget it cuz I still have it) and the track Dancing Machine would get played. The beginning was some loud ass trumpet call, but that was the signal for me to get my rag in one hand, furniture polish in the other and start dusting the hell out of the knick knacks to the beat of that song. To this day, when I hear the “she’s a dance dance dance dance dancing machine watch her get down watch her get down” I instinctively do the dance I made up with my broom over 13 years ago.

Beat it I always loved for the video. I remember watching it and thinking MJ was about to get beat down by those hard ass looking gangsters, but they way they all came together and killed that choreagraphy…priceless. Plus, I can kill that song on Guitar Hero World Tour lol

Sheeeeit, there’s so much to say about the man on so many levels.

I remember my older brother coming into our room and putting on Dangerous for the first time. I had heard other MJ songs before but I had never listened to any of them, you know what I mean? We listened to the cassette twice over not saying much to each other, just absorbing what was coming out of the speakers. MJ’s voice, the harmonies, the vibe of the songs made me feel strange, I had never just sat and listened to anything let alone a record. I was confused but felt a bit enlightened, like i had just experienced something that was bigger than I could understand. That day will always be remember as my introduction to music as a whole. After that day music was no longer just some passing thing, it became pieces of art that I’ve only come to appreciate more and more with age.

As for the man himself, through out all the “wackiness” he has always seemed 100% genuine to me. All his charitable acts, what he sang about, his causes, I truly believe his heart was made of gold and that’s the way he’ll be remember by me.

Some will say he was messed up, crazy, or what have you, but it’s always the odd ones that are the greats and Michael was definitely a great.

We’re never going to have another Michael Jackson or anything remotely close to him. RIP the king of pop.

  8. Little Miss Bee says:

My Favorite MJ song is Man in a mirrior
I love this song because i always have an urge to help someone in need.
When i hear this song it reminds me that in order to make a change in the
world you have to start with making a change in yourself.
Man in the mirrior has taught me to believe in myself and realize that i can make a difference even if its as lil as giving my time and love to someone.

  9. Tricia Kanhai says:

Anyone who knows me knows how much Michael Jackson meant to me!! He is more than just a musical artist to me. He was my inspiration and driving force to become a dancer. He taught me that through hard work, dedication, and heart wrenching practice, you can be anything you want to be!!

From the first moment I heard Michael Jackson I got BUTTERFLIES. MJ has made me in the BAD, P.Y.T. that I am today. I’m so BAD that when all others WANNA BE STARTIN’ SOMETHIN with me, I tell them to BEAT IT as I consistently tear it up and leave my BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR!! I CAN’T HELP IT if from a little girl I studied his smooth moves and his HUMAN NATURE that made some WANNA TRIP ON ME!! With the confidence MJ helped instil in me those people can SAY, SAY, SAY what they want! Lol

I obviously don’t have to say how deeply saddened I am by his death. I truly believe that in Michael’s final days, he was using the love he received from his fans to give him the strength to put on a final concert that was not for a monetary purpose, but, was a performance to show his children and his true fans how much he loved doing what he was grew up doing. The memories that I attribute to this man is tremendous and for that alone I am forever grateful!! And with that I can take solace and believe that he is finally resting in peace!!!

  10. Wendy says:

I remember seeing “Moonwalker” the movie as a child on TV, and it was my dad who introduced me to it. That’s when I was initially mesmerized by Michael. Several years later in 1996, I heard “You Are Not Alone” and my obsession for MJ thwarted into full force from that day on! I’ve watched all his music videos countless times and my favourite is “Remember the Time”. He is a huge part of who I am today.

  11. Georgina Bukovac says:

True appreciation for his work in whole as opposed to one favourite. Each song has its own memory, its own impact on society, the music industry and all those who loved to listen and dance to MJ’s tunes.

  12. I was old enough to earn allowance learned the value of a dollar by lifting big ol bags of fresh cut grass in the dry Alberta summers. When u have asthma as i do it is no joy believe me. I had finally hauled weezed enough to pay for what i had been dreaming of possessing for weeks. It was Saturday which meant we as a family were heading to the mall with my first paycheck in hand i bolted straight for the music isle of the Zellars.I knew what i was looking for since i had seen it and heard it in record form so many times in my big bros room. I was to young to be able to operate the record player so my brothers thought which meant i couldn’t get my fix as often as i needed. So with my 8.99 i bought my very own copy in cassette form of thriller my first album EVER!!!. I still remember and have the white plastic cassette. I didn’t care that there was no fold out poster like my big bros it was mine. I let my tape rock till my tape popped sang into my fisher price hammer. Cut up sock on one hand and pleather zipper jacket on my back church shoes on my feet i scuffed up that kitchen floor. I new every song felt every beat and still do. Who i am as an entertainer today is because of MJ that record literally changed my life and put me on a path im still till this day.If i was to win this painting it would be like walking into that Zellars all over again and i see it hanging in my studio when ever i rehearse as a reminder of who sparked it all for so many. I don’t miss MJ cause he is now available to channel every time i taker the stage his energy is there for all of us to grab.
    R.I.P MJ

  13. CHRISTINE PARK says:

My favourite MJ song has to be Billy Jean. It gets me pumped up every time i hear it playing. I am of Korean descent, and to this day my mother still does not speak engligh very well, but somehow she can recite the lyrics word for word every time she hears it. It trips me out. Every time my friends come over I make her perform for them. Everyone loves it. How wicked would it be to give my mom this painting.

  14. MELISSA GOMES-MERO says:

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson. On one of my first dates with my current fiance, he sang MJ’s song “dirty diana”, he likes singing, even though he is tone deaf. My fiance has been a fan of MJ’s for as long as I can remember. He has an idea of us performing Mj’s thriller dance at our wedding this coming October. I would love to surprise him with this amazing piece of art work.

  15. Brandilicious says:

Thriller was my first album – I begged my mom to purchase it for me when I was just seven years old, after watching the Thriller video for the first time.

I have been a fan for 26 years now and had tickets to opening show at the O2 in London. Although my husband and I were devastated by MJ’s passing, we went ahead with our plans to fly to London and attended a touching vigil for Michael at the O2 on July 13th. We were joined by thousands of other fans, singing and dancing into the night – honoring Michael’s life, talent and genius.
Our wedding song is “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”. It is featured in our wedding montage (http://www.dustinrabin.com/dominican/)

We recently moved into a new condo and would love to showcase this amazing painting of our idol in our new home.
Thank you for creating such a spectacular work of art in honour of the great Michael Jackson.

  16. Scott Mitchell says:

I recall my Mom’s negotiating some deal with me. Clean my room or something and she’d buy me ‘Bad’ on cassette. I was 7.

Years later, as the cassette was nearly eclipsed by the cd, but when it was still possible to buy cassettes, I dug up the old collection. I remember listening to it, and smiling through it, until the album arrived at ‘man in the mirror’. This was at a time when there was alot going on, some serious, some not at all, in hindsight. A time when I was miserable, simple and plain. That song will never sound quite the same as it did that day. I remember the thought process as the song played, and arriving somewhere that made me who I am today…

and I’m only one. With so many songs, and so many people in the world with access to his music, how many people did he reach in a profound way? In spite of what his detractors and jokesters might say, this is his legacy; and it is far more important…

  17. Bryan Brown says:

I remember taking my cousins BAD tape (thats right, tape people) to school everyday and playing it in my walkman during reading time. I got in trouble almost everyday but I still wouldnt stop. My teacher finally worked out a deal with me so I would actually read instead of bopping my head and randomly singing MJ lyrics during reading time. She would let me listen to one song everyday before reading time out lound everyday as long as I promised not to listen to it during the actual reading time. Later I learned that she herself was a huge MJ fan herself and it was just a excuse for her as well to listen to MJ during class. At the time I saw her as a million years older then me but when we put on MJ we were just two people enjoying good music. For months my class started looking forward to “Michael time” before reading time. Ever since then MJ was a part of my life.

  18. David Chan says:

My favorite MJ song has to be ‘Rock with You’

I just can’t explain it, but the song makes me feel good physically and mentally. It never fails to bring a smile to my face and brings me into a different world similar to the video rocking the shiny suit w the strobe lights in the background.

My favorite MJ video was definitely ‘Thriller.’ As a little kid, I was scared yet amazed by the song and dance moves. I never turned the channel and it in my mind is one of the best if not THEE BEST music video of all time.

His dance moves were something I envy for the fact that I’ll never be able to perform. LOL. His influence has been, still is, and will always be seen everywhere I turn. Never in my life thus far have I gotten so many texts or seen so many notifications that someone has passed away. It’s hard ignore the shady things that happened in the later stages of his life, but it’s even harder to ignore the amazing things I believe his life will be remembered for, whether you were a fan or not. RIP MJ.

  19. Nihir says:

I think it was in the era of HIStory that I realized how much I liked MJ. I was in London visiting an Uncle who had taken the opportunity to see the Thriller tour and the Dangerous tour and I was mesmerized. I bought the behind-the-scenes footage and the making-of videos and pretty much everything I could get a hold of. A few years later made a promise that should Michael Jackson ever put on another concert tour I would be there, no matter where it was in the world.

I had a dozen friends up at 3AM ready to buy tickets for this concert series at the 02 and luckily when Ticketmaster made a mistake and let us buy tickets 20 minutes before the official window should have opened, snagged floor seats to opening night. Opening night!

I couldn’t believe it. I listened to everything from the incredible Jackson 5 to the under-appreciated Invincible album…I just wanted to get ready for the show I”d been looking forward to my whole life. This was one of those experiences that you put on your list of things to do before you die.

It turned out that I would end up 18 days away from seeing the most incredible music star in history. 18 days. It will always haunt me and will serve as a reminder to never waste a moment.

I loved Michael Jackson and truly believe he’ll be remembered as someone who comes around once in history.

Paul — Amazing piece of art and beautiful tribute.

  20. Landy says:

I was born in 1980 and the earliest memory of any kind of music was Michael Jackson. Growing up in Europe, I remember being 5 years old and seeing the video for “Thriller.” Everything in that video was spot on from the dancing to the gruesome monster make-up. It both exhilarated and frightened me at the same time. It wasn’t until I was about 8 years old that I really began to listen to music. I had my older brother’s beat up Thriller cassette tape. The stand out track to me was “Beat It.” That was the genius of Michael Jackson. Back when music boundaries were so richly defined by racial, MJ broke it all down. White people used to be rockers and Black people used to listen to just Black music. “Beat It” had it all from the blistering Van Halen guitaring to the early sounds of New Jack Swing. I used to lip sync and dance in the bathroom mirror to that song every night.

But I would say my greatest Michael Jackson memory actually came in his passing. It was my biggest regret that I never got to see him perform live, but I always remained one of his biggest fans. His death was like losing a family member. I live in Los Angeles now and when I heard that the Memorial Service would be held here, I knew I had to go. Like the millions around the world, I registered for the Memorial tickets and failed to win them. It was impossible to get tickets and even worse, parasites were trying to make a buck out of tragedy by scalping their voucher codes for thousands on ebay and craigslist. I actually ended up posting on Craigslist asking if there was anyone that couldn’t go that would be willing to give their voucher to a legitimate fan. A young girl, a complete stranger, from Prince George, British Columbia ended up responding and gave me her voucher at no charge at all. She said she couldn’t go because of the cost to fly to LA and she felt it would be better if a real fan was able to be there. Thanks to her, I was actually able to attend the Memorial at the Staples Center and say goodbye to a legend. It was one of the most random acts of kindness I have ever experienced and I think that truly was one of the more powerful things that Michael left behind beyond his music. His music and his messages of positivity were able to bring people together, even random people of different ethniticies from separate countries. Yes Michael made great music, but he also sang things of profound importance. I think if more people heeded the words to his music, I really believe the world would be a better place. He was a gift to the world and there will never be another like him.
